Abdul Carter Misses Penn State Pro Day Due to Injuries
Abdul Carter, a much-anticipated edge rusher from Penn State, isn’t participating in his school’s pro day, as confirmed by his agent Drew Rosenhaus. His ongoing recovery from injuries has prevented him from demonstrating his talents to NFL scouts and teams.
Injury Details
Carter suffered a shoulder injury during the College Football Playoff quarterfinals against Boise State and remains in rehabilitation. Further medical evaluations at the NFL scouting combine in February unveiled a stress reaction in his right foot. Though surgery was an option to stabilize his foot, Carter opted against it to avoid an eight-week recovery.
“In February, I was confident these injuries wouldn’t affect Abdul’s draft position,” Rosenhaus stated. “We anticipate he will hold a private workout for teams in April to exhibit his full abilities.”
Implications for the NFL Draft
Even without participating in the pro day, Carter is still a high-ranking prospect. Mel Kiper Jr. places him as the No. 2 overall pick on the Big Board, reflecting his impressive potential and prowess. Matt Miller also ranks him as the foremost prospect for the 2025 draft, and ESPN analyst Jordan Reid similarly praises his strong track record.
Though missing the pro day, Carter’s draft prospects remain solid. While teams were keen to see him perform in person, Rosenhaus assures that Carter aims to fully display his capabilities before the draft. NFL teams have been informed about his health by Dr. Dan Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys’ physician, who oversees Carter’s treatment.
As the draft nears, Carter’s recovery and any potential private workouts will be scrutinized by teams eager to bolster their defensive lineup with his skills.
